Partner plans for Broadgreen and Royal

The chief executive of Broadgreen Hospital in Liverpool says the facility “will form a vital part of the plans” for the new Royal Liverpool, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Chief executive of both hospitals, Aidan Kehoe, said the involves placing lots ofspecialist services at the new Royal. This includes emergency work and major trauma. Broadgreen will then bee freed up to focus more on planned care andelective surgery.

He told the daily: “If you look at pressure on hospitals which don’t have another site it can lead to operations being cancelled. At Broadgreen it is much more protected so operations aren’t cancelled because of the pressures of emergency work.”
