FMN event 3 (Health 1): The changing hospital estates

Venue: EC Harris, London

This workshop will look at a range of FM issues within the Health sector:•    PROPCO: What are the future plans for development/disposal of Health estates? How does PROPCO intend to engage with local Trusts? DoH SHAPE (Strategic Health Asset Planning and Evaluation) is a web-enabled, evidence-based application which informs and supports strategic planning of services and physical assets. How has it been used so far, and how useful will it be for planning ahead? Estates strategies and rationalisation plans and integration with clinical services strategies. How can FM engage clinicians in delivering strategies? Non-inpatient space utilisation: Using various models to reduce costs – considerable savings can be made from developing plans to rationalise the estate; use new ways of working and combine flexible working with IT, telephony and flexible use of space. Local HealthWatch seeks to “actively engage communities in a dialogue about their health and social care needs to ensure that services act upon feedback and can demonstrate that they have done so”. We will look at ways in which this can be put into practice and consider the impact on facilities  and estates provision.
