The Hackitt Review Seminar

The Fire Protection Association (FPA) will deliver this one-day seminar to bring together expertise from the fire and construction industries, offering an opportunity to learn from professionals how best to understand the challenges and meet the outcomes of Dame Judith Hackitt's Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety.   The seminar programme will include a review of the key themes and actions of the final report; will look forward to the changes expected to be implemented as a result; and consider the implications for industry practice.   It will include:    * An overview of the independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety. Findings from the review and recommendations for the future    * Examination of how the approved document B and the Building Regulations Advisory Committee fit into the changing landscape following the review   * An outline of some real-life findings from a series of carefully controlled experiments, commissioned by the ABI, recreating more realistic building conditions than those in which the standard tests are completed    * An exploration of how London Fire Brigade are gearing up to adapt to the likely changes following the Hackitt Review   * An overview of likely changes to British Standards for fire engineering   * An interpretation of the review of Building Regulations to work towards a more joined up approach to fire safety    * An understanding of what is reasonable to achieve for businesses and guidance on roles and likely responsibilities   Confirmed speakers include: Emma Clancy, chair of the ADB working group, Adreena Parkin, Senior Fire Engineer at London Fire Brigade and Dave Sibert, chair of British Standards Institution Committee as well as FPA's own trusted experts, Jonathan O’Neill, Managing Director and Dr Jim Glockling, Technical Director or FPA and RISCAuthority.    The programme begins at 10am and concludes at 4pm.
