Inspection visits took place from September 7-10, September 14-16, and October 26 - November 4, 2021. This was an announced inspection of the forensic inpatient or secure wards and wards for older people with mental health problems. These services were selected as they had experienced some challenges, including serious incidents, and the CQC wanted to see how the Trust had responded and if high quality care and treatment had been maintained.

The overall rating of services remains the same and the Trust was rated as outstanding. However, there were areas for improvement, linked to serious incidents, as well as work required to some of the estate and issues with the IT system. The inspection identified these areas for improvement, but the Trust was already aware of them and was taking action.
