The inspection visit took place from March 3rd - 5th and could not be completed due to the suspension of inspections during the pandemic. Hence the well-led inspection was not completed in the usual way.

Medical care, surgery and critical care provided by the Trust at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital and accident and emergency services at Hull Royal Infirmary were inspected on this occasion.

The inspectors found examples of outstanding practice in critical services at both sites and in surgery services at Hull Royal Infirmary.

It issued 11 requirement notices to the Trust, relating to breaches of legal requirements in urgent and emergency care, medical care and critical care.
