The inspection visit took place between August 26 and September 15.

This was the first inspection since North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust became a legal entity in October 2019. It was a focused inspection in response to emerging concerns of risk to patient and staff safety.

On August 28 a letter of intent was issued relating specifically to the Emergency Department. Another letter of intent and a warning notice were issued on September 16, identifying specific areas that the Trust must improve and setting a date for compliance of November 30.
