Inspection visit took place on April 19 & 20.

This was an unannounced focused inspection of the emergency department in response to concerning information received in relation to the care of patients,  and the maternity service in response to concerns received relating to the care of mothers and babies.

Following this inspection, under Section 31 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, the Trust was sent a letter of intent to take urgent action as the inspectors believed people would or may be exposed to risk of harm.

At this inspection, maternity services were rated as inadequate.

The urgent and emergency services were not rated at this inspection so the previous overall rating of requires improvement remains.
