Royal Victoria Infirmary

Inspection visit took place on November 30 - December 1, 2022.

This was an unannounced focused inspection looking specifically at the quality and safety of care provided to patients with a mental health need, a learning disability or autism.

Focused inspection activity was also carried out in critical care, maternity, medicine, surgery and urgent and emergency care.

The hospital was not rated at this inspection, so its previous rating of outstanding remains in place. However, following this inspection the CQC wrote to the Trust to share concerns about the inspection findings and requesting immediate action be taken to improve the quality and safety of services. It issued a Warning Notice under Section 29A of the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
