Grading Explained: Requires Improvement

The inspection visit took place on November 30, 2020. This was an unannounced focused inspection of the urgent and emergency care service as part of the CQC’s winter pressures programme. It was the only service inspected and as a result of the inspection the rating for this service went down, although the Trust’s overall rating remained the same. Following the inspection the CQC wrote to the Trust under section 31 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 over concerns for the potential significant risk of harm to patients. The Trust took immediate action and developed a plan to make and embed improvements to the service.
