As the curtains closed on HEFMA’s 2019 National Leadsership Forum, the theme for the association’s 2020 flagship event has been confirmed as: ‘Managing the Route to the Best Patient Outcome’.

The Forum will be held in Milton Keynes at the Stadium MK, home of the MK Dons football team on May 6 & 7 with the ice-breaker opening dinner on the evening of May 5. It will be hosted by the Eastern Branch.

The coming months will see NHS organisations around England start work on implementing the Long Term Plan, moving to healthcare systems rather than individual organisations in silos. There is growing recognition of the essential role that Estates & Facilities teams play in the delivery of patient care, which is now being reinforced by the data revealed at last week’s Forum by NHS England & NHS Improvement. Tackling backlog maintenance to ensure the estate is suitable for 21st century healthcare, re-purposing the use of space, transforming the location and delivery of services and adopting wider use of technology are all challenges that EFM teams are rising to in order to manage the route to the best patient outcome.

The theme and logo also reflect the venue, as Milton Keynes is well known for its many roundabouts intersecting and linking the straight roads that dissect and surround the town.
