The Greener NHS programme, in collaboration with the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Healthcare, AHSN Network and the Accelerated Access Collaborative, has launched a competition to uncover and back innovations that will support the delivery of the world’s first net zero carbon health service. Entries to the low carbon healthcare competition will close on August 24 at 1pm.
This competition aims to address the challenge of meeting NHS net zero targets and innovations must take into account the supply chain and full product life cycle, as well as the impact that solutions will have on carbon emissions.
Four sub-categories have been identified for this competition:
• Reducing emissions from care miles
• Reducing emissions from surgical pathways
• Reducing nitrous Oxide emissions
• Tools to support low-carbon decision-making.
The competition is open to NHS Trusts, businesses and charities. The £1m fund will be shared between successful applicants, capped at £100,000 each.
