ENGIE wins decentralised energy contracts for three Liverpool NHS Trusts

ENGIE (formerly Cofely GDF SUEZ) has been awarded a £29 million Carbon and Energy Fund (CEF) framework contract through the Liverpool Energy Collaboration CEF Scheme. Within the framework, which will see £12.4 million of third-party investment, ENGIE will construct, operate and maintain gas-fired CHP energy centres for three NHS Trusts, as well as carrying out site-wide upgrades to energy-consuming equipment.

The project incorporates a two-year construction period followed by a 15-year operation and maintenance (O&M) contract. During the O&M period ENGIE will deliver guaranteed financial savings of over £1.2 million per annum across the three sites. The combined yearly reduction in carbon emissions is projected to be nearly 5,000 tonnes, representing an average carbon saving of 29%.

The three NHS Trusts to benefit from the contract are Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Aintree University Hospital and The Walton Centre. Each Trust will have a separate contract with ENGIE but all have benefited from the innovative joint procurement initiative and will continue to gain value through the collective project and service delivery across their three sites.
