The fifth annual Health Care Climate Champion Awards are now open for entries from hospitals and health systems.

The 2020 awards, part of the Health Care Climate Challenge, recognise and celebrate the achievements, innovations and effective climate programmes and other initiatives from hospitals and health systems.

Multiple categories of awards are available, related to the three pillars of the Climate Challenge:

•Mitigation: reducing healthcare’s own carbon footprint and/or fostering low-carbon healthcare

•Resilience: preparing for the impacts of extreme weather and the shifting burden of disease

•Leadership: educating staff and the public while promoting policies to protect public health from climate change.

To be eligible to enter, applicants must be a member of the Global Green & Healthy Hospitals hospital and have signed the Health Care Climate Challenge Pledge.

Deadline for entries is September 15, 2020.
