The CQC has published the results of its Urgent and Emergency Care survey 2018, which reveals that the majority of people questioned were positive about most aspects of the care they received.

When asked about the environment and facilities at the urgent care centre or A&E department they visited, cleanliness, safety and the food and drink available were all rated highly. 95% of patients in A&E and 97% in urgent care centres rated the cleanliness of the facility as ‘very clean’ or ‘fairly clean’. The majority of respondents said they did not feel threatened by other patients or visitors – 92% in A&E and 95% in urgent care.

The response to the food and drink provision was also positive, with 59% of patients in A&E and 61% in urgent care agreeing they were able to get suitable food and drink. However, in both type of facilities 25% said they were not, suggesting there is room for improvement.
