Focus on Sustainability for West Midlands Branch Conference

The West Midlands Branch Conference 2019, to be held on March 1 at the Village Hotel in Walsall, will focus on Sustainability.

Usually rightly associated with issues such as energy consumption and renewable energy, recycling and throw-away plastics, the scope of sustainability is much broader. The 2019 Branch Conference aims to cover these wider aspects of sustainability, including issues such as finance, workforce, corporate and social responsibility, energy, waste, business continuity and IT, all presented within an Estates and Facilities context, providing relevance to all attendees.

These are rapidly changing and challenging times for the NHS and the UK as a whole. How will Brexit impact us? Is another 'Carillion' possible and how can we mitigate the effects?  Remember the recent clinical waste scandal? Are you too reliant on workforce outsourcing? With our degree of IT dependency, are you prepared for a major failure? We are staring into something of a black hole and, as is often the case, the Estates and Facilities workforce is likely to be at the sharp end if problems arise.

The HEFMA West Midlands Branch Conference 2019 aims to provide you with some food for thought, if not the answers, to some of these potential challenges. Our line-up of speakers should hold your interest throughout the day, with confirmed presenters including Fiona Daly (Sustainability Lead, NHS Improvement), Mark Butterworth (Technical Director, Training and Consultancy Services) and Daniel O'Connor (Warp It).

The day will be informative for Estates and Facilities professionals of all levels and from all disciplines, and the presentations will be relevant for all services - Acute, Mental Health, Community and Care Trusts. There will be a chance to network during the lunch and refreshment breaks and, in a new addition to conference this year, several sponsors will have exhibition stands in the breakout area.

In order to cover the costs of staging this event, there is a nominal charge of £50 per person. If three people attend from the same Trust, there is a 50% discount for the third person. Please use additional booking forms but the same PO number if booking more than one place.

The event is supported by Veolia and Warp It Reuse.
