HEFMA is proud to be involved with NHS Sustainability Day 2020 as the sponsor of the Energy Award.
The government has made it clear that sustainability across the NHS is a high priority with the health service expected to take a lead in the move to carbon neutral, tackling climate change and air pollution. Our members are already heavily involved with measures to improve energy-efficiency across the NHS estate, so it is fitting that HEFMA should highlight the importance of this issue through sponsoring this category.
The judges will be looking for projects and policies that demonstrate innovation, imagination and ambition; provide evidence of a good and clear strategy, good management and clear communication to staff as well as other stakeholders; offer value for money; make a difference to the organisation; and have achieved (or are on target to achieve) their aims.
Specific criteria to be considered specifically for the Energy Award include consideration of projects that demonstrate a reduction in energy use alongside financial savings and which use innovation or involve behaviour change.
As befits a sustainability agenda, the 2020 awards application process and ceremony will be entirely online and carbon neutral.
Entries are open now and will close on March 5. The shortlist will be announced on March 12 and the awards ceremony will be held as part of NHS Sustainability Day on March 19.
