The winners of the 2016 HefmA national awards have been announced at a Gala Dinner held during the Association’s Annual Strategic Estates and Facilities Leadership Forum in Telford (May 19).
These prestigious awards honour individuals and teams working within healthcare estates and facilities who have excelled in their field during the course of the past 12 months. There is also an award to recognise significant contribution to the profession.
Innovation Award: Nominations for this award were open to an individual or team employed by an NHS organisation within England. Entrants needed to demonstrate how they have introduced a new idea, device or process which has delivered service improvement for the benefit of patients and service users.
Winner: Centralised Endoscopy Decontamination Services, Queens Hospital Foundation Trust
Leader of the Year: This award will honour and recognise an individual Estates or Facilities professional employed within an NHS organisation in England.
Winner: Carin Charlton, Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust
Team of the Year: This award will go to the team of people working in Estates and Facilities services within an NHS organisation in England who can demonstrate they have delivered service improvement to their customers including patients, staff and visitors, which support their Organisation’s objectives.
Winner: Estates, Facilities & Capital Projects Team, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals Trust
People Development Award: An organisation is only as strong as its people and this award recognises an individual or team working in Estates and Facilities services within an NHS organisation in England who has made excellent progress in developing an effective knowledgeable team through robust learning and development initiatives.
Winner: Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust Lead by Carin Charlton
Project of the Year: This award will be made to an individual or team working in Estates and Facilities services within an NHS organisation in England who can demonstrate outstanding achievement in delivering a project which has led to improving patient and staff experience.
Winner: Forget-Me-Not Walk, West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust
Personal Development Award: This award will be made to an individual employed in the NHS delivering Estates and/or Facilities services in England who can demonstrate outstanding personal development and learning in their role. The award will not only recognise apprentices and trainees, but also anyone who has really stood out in developing their career and is combining practical skills with progress in obtaining training and qualifications, within the past 18 months.
Winner: Christina Trouton, Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust
Outstanding Service Award: This award is presented to an outstanding professional who has contributed significantly to the Estates and Facilities profession. We were looking for an individual that has given many years of dedicated service to the Estates and Facilities profession as well as being pro-active within the Association and the recipient of this award has done just that.
Winner: Andrew Jones, Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals Foundation Trust
