Matt Hancock moves to health in cabinet re-shuffle

Following Jeremy Hunt's move to Foreign Secretary in Prime Minister, Theresa May's cabinet re-shuffle yesterday (July 9), Matt Hancock MP has been appointed Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.

 

Matt Hancock was elected the MP for West Suffolk in the 2010 general election. His previous ministerial roles include Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and Minister of State for Digital.

 

He oversaw the expansion of apprenticeships and championed the digital transformation of government. As Minister of State for Digital he also had responsibility for cyber and the tech industry.

 

The new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has tweeted: "Really looking forward to joining @DHSCgovuk at such an important time for our great NHS. I can't wait to get started."
