Andrew Urquhart, Sustainability Lead at Suffolk & North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Groups, is one of two speakers focusing on issues of sustainability at the HEFMA Leadership Forum. Andrew will lead with a discussion of the opportunity that NHS organisations have to leverage their position as large consumers of resources and anchor organisations to influence positive action in their local communities towards a more sustainable future. He will take a holistic view of the healthcare estate, the provision of services, and how they each respond to the challenges of climate change.
Andrew supports colleagues across the health and care system to implement more sustainable approaches to healthcare. His role is focused on minimising the impact of climate change and other environmental factors, such as air pollution on population health. He has extensive experience of working with industry to implement programmes and measures, delivering change in organisational practices that reduce adverse environmental impacts.
Andrew is a Chartered Environmentalist and past Chairman of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management East Anglia Centre. Currently, Andrew is leading the development of the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System (ICS) Green Plan, a health system-wide sustainability strategy that seeks to deliver the NHS Net Zero Carbon targets.
As well as the informative speaker programme, the Leadership Forum also includes an exhibition at which suppliers will feature their latest product and service innovations, the Awards Dinner and extensive networking opportunities.
