Mitie has secured an extensive contract to provide general grounds and gardens services for 31 Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust sites. The contract has been awarded for three years initially, to service NHS healthcare facilities across Hampshire - including hospitals, medical centres, community health centres as well as specialised and forensic units.

The scope of service includes the maintenance of general horticultural features as well as the provision of cleaning services such as sweeping, litter removal and leaf clearance.  Mitie has to deliver both functional and attractive landscaping to enhance the Trust’s user and visitor experience all year round. All grounds maintenance must also enable smooth and safe running of essential Trust operations on site as access to all medical units is a critical necessity at all times.

One of the more unique services will involve the maintenance of special, therapeutic gardening areas that patients and visitors can design and cultivate using plants and or garden ornaments donated by friends and relatives. Even though these special gardening areas are planted by guests and patients, Mitie is duty-bound to care for them with the same standard of upkeep prescribed in its contract with the Trust.
Rob Lilley, Business Development Manager at Mitie says: “We look forward to providing our landscaping services for Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. This is an important contract for Mitie and we are pleased that our new clients have every confidence in our ability to deliver, which we will always strive to fulfil, if not exceed.”

Mitie was chosen by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust because of its thorough technical proposal and reflected examples of quality delivery. Bob Beeching, Southern Health Contract Manager says: “We are very pleased to be working with Mitie in relation to our Grounds and Gardens. The grounds provide therapeutic value to many of the people we support and our staff so it is very important to us that they are maintained in a way that provides minimum disturbance whilst giving us the service we require. We are confident that Mite will provide everything we need.”
