New Health Secretary named in cabinet reshuffle

Victoria Atkins has replaced Steve Barclay as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care in the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak’s cabinet reshuffle.

Formerly Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Victoria Atkins has been MP for Louth & Horncastle since May 2015. Prior to her election she was a criminal barrister specialising in serious organised crime.

In addition, the DHSC has two new ministers. Andrew Stephenson, MP for Pendle since 2010, is now Health Minister, and Dame Andrea Leadsom, MP for South Northamptonshire since 2010 and former Conservative Party leadership candidate, is now Junior Health Minister.

Former Health Secretary, Steve Barclay is now Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
