Speaking at HEFMA’s 2026 National Leadership Forum this morning (Thursday, May 28), David Moss, the association’s National Chair revealed an exciting initiative with CompliMind. The new partnership marks an important step forward in supporting HEFMA members to navigate the growing complexity of compliance, knowledge management and digital transformation across NHS Estates and Facilities.

David told the Forum: “One of the greatest challenges for Estates and Facilities professionals is to reduce costs without compromising quality. Inevitably this will involve embracing technology. We can already see how this has been embraced by the private sector. Whether it is self checkout at supermarkets or checking in at airports, we see fewer people and more automation. In order to meet our targets of reducing staffing levels we need to embrace technology and instigate change.”

CompliMind has been developed by Carl-Magnus von Behr, a long-standing collaborator with HEFMA and the wider estates community, following several years of research embedded within NHS organisations and professional bodies. The platform has been designed in direct response to challenges familiar to many HEFMA members – particularly around access to information, maintaining compliance and sharing knowledge effectively across teams and Trusts.

This partnership is focused on giving HEFMA members practical tools, opportunities for collaboration and a stronger voice in how emerging technologies are shaped and applied within our profession.

What members can expect

• Collaborative member forum: A moderated space under HEFMA oversight where members can share best practice, discuss common challenges and shape key topics for the sector.

• Training and professional development: There will be access to CPD-accredited AI training and webinar programmes designed to build confidence in the use of new digital tools within estates and facilities management.

• Member benefits and influence: HEFMA members will have access to preferential arrangements should they wish to adopt the platform, alongside a direct route to influence future development – ensuring solutions are shaped by the needs of NHS estates teams.

A member-led approach to AI and innovation

Importantly, this partnership is designed to be fully opt-in, with no obligation to participate and no data sharing without consent. It ensures that HEFMA members can engage with emerging AI and digital tools in a way that is controlled, transparent and aligned to professional values.

“The aim is not to replace expertise within the Estates and Facilities workforce, but to reduce administrative burden, support compliance processes and unlock the collective knowledge already present across our membership.”
