NHS Chef competition moves to next stage as finalists announced

The regional heats are complete, and the eight teams going through to the finals of NHS England’s NHS Chef 2025 competition have been confirmed. Tim Radcliffe, Net Zero Food Programme Manager at NHS England says this year’s event “has been a true celebration of our chefs’ passion, creativity and skill. From exceptional dishes to inspiring teamwork, our chefs have once again raised the bar, showcasing the remarkable talent across the NHS.”

These teams have earned their place in the final week through their skill, dedication and a true passion for NHS catering excellence.

The finalists will now attend the Mentor & Development Event, where they will receive guidance, inspiration and support on their journey to the final at The Cookery School at The Grand, York, from October 20-24, 2025. This is a celebration of NHS catering in a truly world-class setting, offering learning, mentoring and networking opportunities for all involved. The Mentor & Development Event will be held at Parts Town UK from September 16-18, 2025.

Tim thanks all the teams who have participated in the 2025 competition for their hard work, creativity and commitment. “You have made this year’s competition a resounding success and a true celebration of NHS talent,” he says. “Your passion and innovation prove that NHS kitchens are places of pride, heart and inspiration – where the food we serve nourishes both body and spirit.

“Let’s celebrate these incredible chefs and the high standard of excellence they represent!”

 

The finalists are:

• Joanne Downs and Karolina Morawiec – Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust (North View)

• Nedko Rusev and Scott Ferguson – Guy's and St Thomas' Trust

• Christoffer Dopico Alles and Angelika Purtak – Southampton Hospital

• Eddie Makuwaza and Antony Akhil – University Hospitals of Leicester

• Chloe Millis-Poole and Martin Spray – Sheffield Teaching Hospitals

• Ian Richards and Joe Omolo – Stepping Hill

• Caroline Byrne and Amanda Barber – Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust (Prestwich)

• Razwanah Ansari and Josephine Oboh – Harefield Hospitals
