NHS England has commissioned a redevelopment of its ProCure digital platform to drive reporting efficiencies and best practice insight across its procurement framework. The work is expected to take until 2027 to complete and will be carried out by software company Parallel, a public-private partnership between Community Health Partnerships and Sewell Group that specialises in interactive mapping, data visualisation and insight.

ProCure is NHS England’s route to market for the provision of design and construction of NHS capital projects. The framework supports NHS Trusts in England to undertake capital works through access to approved supply chain partners. The framework has delivered over £17.59 billion of capital projects for the NHS in England to date.

Driving innovation

The digital platform, the ProCure Club, enables project reporting and collaboration between NHS England, contractors and Trusts. Modernising this platform will build upon the successful development and management of the previous ProCure clubs since the early 2000s. It will bring together over 20 years of construction project data to enable greater reporting and analysis whilst being built on a modern platform enabling an improved user experience.

The redevelopment of the ProCure club will help contribute to the Government’s long-term plan for a technological revolution in healthcare, with the NHS expected to not only catch up but to lead in creating digital tools that allow automation and free up staff time and allow resources to be directed into patient care.

Helen Sturdy, National Head of Construction for ProCure at NHS England, says: “ProCure is a globally recognised, award-winning procurement framework, that enables NHS England to support Trusts throughout their projects, from concept to construction and beyond.

“Parallel is ideally placed to help us with this project, with strong experience in complex data visualisation. The new ProCure Club digital platform will help us continue to drive innovation, best practice and consistency in construction for NHS projects across the country.”
