Below are this week’s key messages from the national NHS Estates & Facilities Team. Please email any questions or comments you have on any of these items to [email protected] or follow the links where provided.
COVID-19: General Update and the National Vaccination Programme
We would like to thank you for your continued engagement with the weekly surveys to date. The responses are really important in helping NHS England and NHS Improvement as an organisation to shape how we engage with our healthcare workforce.
A link to this week’s survey is here and again we would be grateful for your responses – the survey will take less than five minutes to complete.
We all look forward to life returning to more normality with the current situation continuing to improve. However, we as a profession need to ensure that we remain as safe as possible which will help to support the NHS as it increases the pace at which it returns to BAU. Please continue to make use of the resource materials which are available now for use by estates and facilities teams to encourage staff vaccination take-up. These can be accessed from the Collaboration Hub.
Hospital Car Parking: Data Collection
A letter has been issued via the Collaboration Hub by Simon Corben for the attention of all acute and mental health Trusts about hospital car parking. This relates to the need to monitor progress against delivery of the Government’s commitment to making hospital car parking free for the four key groups covered by this commitment. Estates and facilities teams at these NHS Trusts have been requested to complete a spreadsheet which needs to be returned to [email protected] by June 7, 2021.
Local Authority Concessionary Car Parking
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has revised its guidance regarding the offer of free on-street and off-street car parking in local authority car parks to all NHS staff members, health or social care workers, and NHS Volunteer Responders during the COVID-19 emergency response. The emergency parking pass guidance will be withdrawn by June 21, 2021. Further details available here.
Net Zero Carbon Healthcare Building Standard: Consultation
The Net Zero Carbon (NZC) Healthcare Building Standard is now out for consultation. The associated documents can be accessed here.
To access the link you will need to use the following log-in details:
username: Re7998
password: t_fMdbhmUD
The documents will be available via this link until Tuesday May 25, 2021. Responses to the consultation are welcome and these need to be returned by June 9 2021. This can be done by completing the survey monkey forms which are located in the ‘Introduction and Navigation’ document, or alternatively there is also a spreadsheet within this suite of documents which can be used.
ERIC - Validation of Backlog Maintenance Costs
We would like to thank those NHS Trusts which were selected for a further review of the backlog cost element of their ERIC returns and who completed the questionnaire as requested. Those responses are now being reviewed. There are still a number of estates and facilities teams which need to return this information and where extensions to the deadline were not agreed. Adrian Eggleton, National Estates Operational Lead will be making contact with the Trusts direct. Any queries about the original request should be sent to [email protected] marked for the attention of Lisa Sculpher.
NHS Premises Assurance Model (PAM)
As set out in the NHS Standard Contract (Service Conditions 17.9) completion of the NHS PAM is required by all NHS Trusts annually. Previously this has been provided as a spreadsheet.
From 2020-21 onwards, a new online system has been developed to support this. The national NHS Estates and Facilities Team has recently e-mailed invitations and guidance to the lead contacts at NHS Trusts to access the system. All NHS provider Trusts must complete their NHS PAM by July 23, 2021.
We are in the process of arranging webinars on a Trust type basis which we still envisage scheduling during the week commencing May 24. Invitations will be issued in the next few days.
For comments, questions and feedback on the NHS PAM please e-mail: [email protected] and mark for the attention of Michael Bellas. Please also use this mailbox if you would like to be invited to one of the planned webinars.
Chef of the Year
This is now expected to be launched on May 25, 2021. Further details will be published via the NHS England and NHS Improvement website as well as the Collaboration Hub. Please watch out for these details.
