Estates Returns Information Collection (ERIC)

We would like to thank those E&F teams which have already updated the backlog maintenance (BLM) element of the ERIC data. The deadline has been extended until May 27 to allow busy E&F teams further time to complete the update. Those Trusts which still need to update this element of the data are being contacted again.

The remainder of the 2021/22 ERIC will remain open until July 1, 2022.

Please contact: [email protected] in the event of any queries regarding this year’s collection.

The deadline for applications is now imminent - May 31, 2022. Applications are still welcome for the NHS Chef 2022 Competition. This is open to chefs working in the NHS, whether employed directly by the NHS or a third party. National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness: Healthcare Cleaning Manual

The Healthcare Cleaning Manual which supports the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness was launched on May 12, along with the written methodologies. These can be found on the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub along with a comprehensive range of videos and posters.

Apprenticeship Challenge

NHS England and NHS Improvement along with Health Education England recently launched the new NHS Estates and Facilities Apprenticeship Challenge. To support the greater use of apprenticeships in estates and facilities, our challenge is for NHS employers and wholly owned subsidiaries to create 1,000 new apprenticeships starts in 2022/23.

All details are available on the NHS England and NHS Improvement website.

Please see the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub where this information is also available. This includes the joint letter from Simon Corben and Jane Hadfield (Health Education England) along with the guidance and toolkit documents. A national webinar took place on April 28 to support the launch. This was recorded and is now available along with the slides and FAQs document. Please see the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub for further details.

Estates and Facilities Apprenticeships - Snapshot

As part of the Apprenticeships Challenge, we are raising the profile of current estates and facilities apprenticeship vacancies.

If you would like your NHS EFM apprenticeship adverts to be featured in the future month’s vacancy snapshot please submit your details at the vacancy portal.

In addition, there are now some new EFM careers and apprenticeship resources live on the Skills for Health website. These include materials which can be printed and taken to careers and engagement events. Please see this link for further details.

Next steps on transitioning from COVID-19 - Response to Recovery

With the sustained decline in the number of community cases and hospital inpatient numbers, NHS England and NHS Improvement has reclassified the incident from Level 4 (National) to a Level 3 (Regional) Incident. This is effective from May 19, 2022. Further details can be found in the joint letter from Amanda Pritchard (Chief Executive) and Sir David Sloman (Chief Operating Officer).

Case Studies

We are continuing to review all areas of the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub, both the format in some areas as well as the general content. This includes the case studies area. As part of this process we would welcome some additional content. If you have

successfully delivered an estates and facilities related project that could offer fellow E&F teams further insight into best practice and shared learning then we would like to hear from you. If you are interested then please see the Hub for further details and the required template. Alternatively, contact: [email protected], marking for the attention of Joy Heaps and Tom McHugh.
