The shortlist for the MyPorter Awards has been announced, featuring a list of four candidates for each of the six award categories. The judging panel met on Tuesday, January 18 to discuss each nomination, its merits and reasons why they should be shortlisted to win.
With over 100 entries, this year’s MyPorter Awards has grown substantially from its humble beginnings last year, which saw Claire Blackhall, Chargehand Porter at Wansbeck General Hospital, win the single award category.
This year the occasion will be celebrated with a live awards ceremony and dinner in London, at which Claire will present one of the award. The day will start with the MyPorter Awards Portering Conference where guest speakers will talk about portering best practice, team work and wellbeing. Presenters will include Emma Brookes, Head of Soft FM Strategy and Operation and Phil Shelley, Senior Operational & Policy Manager Soft FM, both from NHS England and NHS Improvement and both of whom formed part of the awards judging panel. They will be joined by GV Healthcare’s CEO Matt Wright and GV Healthcare (and former Porter Manager at HUTH NHS Trust) Business Development Manager Mark Edwards, as well as mental health experts and portering peers.
