Steve Barclay, MP for North East Cambridgeshire, has been reinstated as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care in Rishi Sunak’s new cabinet.

Mr Barclay previously held the post between July 5 and September 6 under Boris Johnson, but was replaced in the role by Thérèse Coffey under the short premiership of Liz Truss. Ms Coffey has been appointed Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

In a tweet, Mr Barclay said he is “delighted to return” and is looking forward to working with colleagues across health and social care.
