Replacing the existing UPS at one South Yorkshire NHS Hospital with a BESS, energy resilience and security of supply was maintained - the Powerstar system was called upon twice in one day, in April this year, to protect critical care facilities. When the Grid failed, firstly for 15 seconds and then for 23 seconds, the BESS seamlessly supported the full load. Greater efficiency has brought about cost savings of around £225,000 a year, eliminating approximately 190 tonnes of CO2e, and the Trust can now generate about £100,000 in additional revenue.
