NHS 75
Just a few weeks after E&F Day we will be marking 75 years of the NHS, with a whole host of activity for all to get involved with. Whether you are baking a birthday cake for the NHS to serve at an NHS Big Tea party, donning your trainers to take part in a parkrun for the NHS, or going to see the George Cross as it tours the country, there really is something for everyone to celebrate this landmark anniversary.
Tillery Valley Foods
Tillery Valley Foods entered administration on May 17, 2023. An FAQs document has been developed which will be of interest to those NHS Trusts/E&F teams which have, or had, contracts in place with Tillery Valley Foods. Action Needed on 2022/23 ERIC
Thanks to those E&F teams which have updated the sections relating to the backlog maintenance, energy and waste. This forms part of the enhanced validation process where this was requested by May 30. If your E&F team still needs to update these elements you should take action now to respond to this request.
NHS Premises Assurance (NHS PAM) - updated version
The latest NHS PAM collection is now open. The deadline for completion is September 8, 2023 and the link to complete the submission can be found at NHS England » NHS Premises Assurance Model.

NHS England’s ProCure 23 shortlisted for prestigious award
Congratulations and good luck to our P23 team, who have been shortlisted in the NEC Client of the Year category at the prestigious Martin Barnes Awards 2023. The award ceremony takes place on July 13.
Technical Standards and Guidance Programme - tender now live
NHS England is looking to award a new four-year contract to produce Technical Standards and Guidance. This programme is responsible for producing Health Building Notes and Health Technical Memoranda, and requires a specialist skillset, including architects, health planners, engineers, technical author and editorial skills. The deadline for submission of tenders is June 26.
Greening the NHS Business Case
The ‘Greening the Business Case’ guidance has now been launched. This aims to support estates and facilities teams to make the case for green investment. Application of HEPA Filter Devices for Air Cleaning in Healthcare Spaces: Guidance and Standards
Ventilation is an important line of defence for infection control in the healthcare environment. Its design and operation are described in Health Technical Memorandum (HTM-03-01). This guidance has been written as an interim specification to set the basic standard required for HEPA filter devices to be utilised in healthcare and patient-related settings. This edition is primarily aimed at portable and semi fixed (wall-mounted) devices.
Application of Ultraviolet (UVC) Devices for Air Cleaning in Occupied Healthcare Spaces: Guidance and Standards
Ultraviolet (UVC) air cleaners (also known as air scrubbers) using ultraviolet light are one option for improving and upgrading ventilation. The installation of a UVC air cleaner can reduce the risk of airborne transmission.

Agenda for Change pay offer accepted by the NHS Staff Council
Earlier this month, the NHS Staff Council accepted the pay offer made by the government for Agenda for Change staff in England. This offer covers the 2022/23 and 2023/24 pay years. Eligible staff can expect to receive the additional 2022/23 payment and the new 2023/24 pay rates (including back pay to April 1) as part of their pay in June. Information on what the Agenda for Change pay deal means for each pay band is available. Guidance for staff who may want to receive their 2022/23 lump sum payments in multiple instalments is here. The new pay rates include an increase above the UK Real Living Wage for staff on Bands 1 and 2, which includes 68% of EFM staff who are on these pay bands. This will see entry-level pay in the NHS increase to £11.45 per hour (current UK Real Living Wage £10.90 ph).

Join the National Estates and Facilities Workforce Engagement Forum (WEF)
The next meeting is scheduled for June 8 where the agenda will include an update on the EFM workforce programme, an overview of the latest EFM workforce data, and a look at the New Hospital Programme - the EFM workforce of the future.
The WEF meets on a quarterly basis, with future meetings scheduled for: September 7, December 7 and March 7, 2024.

Registrations are now open for the annual NHS England National Estates and Facilities Forum. This year’s Forum will take place on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the Royal Armouries in Leeds and online. The day will cover some of the pressing priorities for estates and facilities services across the NHS, and how this forms part of a wider strategy for the government estate. Take a look at our outline agenda to see what will be happening on the day, and make sure to register to secure your place.

NHS ConfedExpo: June 14/15 (Manchester)
Please register for NHS ConfedExpo 2023 - tickets are free for NHS, local authority and wider public sector staff. The event, hosted by NHS Confederation and NHS England, will bring together health and care leaders and their teams at one of the biggest and most significant health and care conferences. It’s aimed at NHS providers, ICBs, primary care providers, local government, social care commissioners and providers, and voluntary, community and third sector organisations.
